EPUBCheck OPF-086b is a usage message: “epub:type value "…" is deprecated. Consider using … instead.” An epub:type value is deprecated; EPUBCheck names the value and its replacement, for example "note" replaced by "footnote" or "endnote".

- Official message (EPUBCheck 5.4.0): epub:type value "%1$s" is deprecated. Consider using %2$s instead.
- Default severity: Usage

## Typical causes

- Content written for earlier versions of the EPUB structural semantics vocabulary.

## How to fix it

- Replace the value as suggested: note becomes footnote or endnote, rearnote becomes endnote, sidebar and marginalia become a plain aside element.
